Speeding Up VR Adoption
A Wall Street Journal video published in March highlights the Virtual Reality (VR) special effects within the new film ‘Ready Player One’ and asks the question: “Can Spielberg’s film speed up adoption of VR?”
The video discusses the limited consumer reach of VR today, mostly due to the high cost of the devices and increased computing power required to power this technology. But with artificial intelligence and deep learning tools rapidly improving the quality of this type of animation, people are becoming increasingly interested in the technology. What films like this do is present audiences with a forward-looking perspective on what is possible, both today and in the future. This, in turn, drives consumer demand and incentivizes technology companies to invest more.
